Christmacookie
I'm way late with this, but since I still have cookies left, and we've had family visits non-stop, no guilt.
Before Christmas, Mom and I spent the better part of three days making candy, cakes, breads, and cookies - she more than I, to give credit where it's due. Pike County was awash with peppermint and cinnamon, and we were all the better for it.
And so, dears, I give you...the Christmas cookie bonanza.
Clockwise (beginning from green jar at top center), we have....white chocolate peppermint bark, white chocolate-cranberry cake, triple-chocolate gingerbread cake, Barefoot Contessa jam thumbprint cookies, gingerbread sugar cookies with orange-infused frosting, peppermint chocolate-chunk bars, cranberry bread, banana bread, Ghirardelli mint-chocolate square brownies, almond pound cake, Texas sheet cake, and spiced pecans.
And of course we didn't eat them all ourselves - some went to an impromptu family dinner the night before the big party, others in tins & boxes home for Christmas in New York, some in the freezer, some as gifts to the neighbors, etc., etc. Some are still under Kolz and I's baby tree.

ye gods, woman. you have a captive gnome over there who spins dust bunnies into cookies, don't you? nah - you keep house too well to have dust bunnies. i still think a gnome's involved, though.
wow. i haven't baked christmas cookies since living with my parents...almost 10 years ago. ah, memories!
OMG! Why must you taunt me with pictures of cookies?!? So much yum!
the good news is, all of the recipes are written down and replicable, and we keep no family baking secrets in my clan. they're also not exclusive to christmastime -- think "wintertime cookies", musey, so you can do them in your home!
i've been making a lot of soup lately, and think it's time for something different. stocking up before the semester starts sounds like the best of intentions, no?
alas, wabes, school starts tomorrow for me, and it's enough of a challenge to make sure i/we eat dinner, let alone back cookies. there's something extra special about cooking with/for friends & family. *sigh* perhaps spring-break cookies?
omg. i is so ready for school. let's bake those cookies instead of backing them. (new year's resolution XXX: i will proof read all comments before submission)
it is extra-special, yes. and spring break cookies sound like a grand plan -- i feel like a squirrel storing up for winter, with the stuff i've put in the freezer in the last week.
